Prior to joining Sun Life Financial, Steve consulted in Tokyo, Japan as President of Kandeux, Inc. In this position, he delivered distribution advice and created & implemented sales training programs for Alico-AIG and Manulife Japan in their efforts to introduce variable annuity products to Japan’s retail financial marketplace. Steve pioneered annuities there in wirehouse, bank, and life insurance marketplaces.
Previous to his Japan experiences, Steve served as Executive Vice-President at MetLife Distributors in Newport Beach, California from 2001-2002. In this position, he built the Internal Sales Desk and Wholesaler Training departments which helped grow outside annuity sales at MetLife to new high levels. Before that, he served as Executive Vice President & National Sales Manager for SunAmerica-AIG from 1997-2000.
Steve graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. He spent valuable time in sales positions in consumer products and medical products in the 1970’s and began his career in the financial service marketplace, pioneering fixed annuity wholesaling, in 1981. Steve successfully completed requirements for his Series 6, 7, 24 and 65 and life insurance licenses.
Steve currently lives in Overland Park, Kansas with his wife, Donna. Together, they spend lots of time with their three children and their families, which include six grandchildren. Sharing personal times with the family, and traveling where WE want to go, as well as helping clients plan and achieve their retirement goals, is Steve’s definition of his own perfect retirement.
